A slow start to 2026…

As the new year continues, I’m letting myself start it slowly. As a maker, the start of the year has fewer expectations and allows for a slower pace.

January was a very personal month for me as I married the love of my life after 10 years together. Much of the month was spent celebrating with friends and family. I was happy to let work take a backseat while I recharged my creative batteries after an incredibly busy time in the lead up to Christmas.

Since returning from our honeymoon in Edinburgh, I’ve been gently and thoughtfully working on new pieces, hand embroidered bookmarks and necklaces. The scale of these pieces is very different to anything else I have worked on previously. There have been challenges and a lot of trial and error but I am thoroughly enjoying the creative freedom that comes from working on something completely new.

I have been trialling these new designs at markets and have been very encouraged by all of the wonderful feedback. The hand embroidered bookmarks and necklaces will be available on my website in March.

Nature has always been my most important influence and right now I am finding a lot of comfort in moving in step with Mother Nature. Hand embroidery allows me to slow down throughout the year but right now this feels even more poignant.

Warmly,

Hannah
